Hello everyone,
The We Can End AIDS Coalition is committed to making sure that every person living with AIDS or AIDS activist ally who wants to attend the huge We Can End AIDS mobilization on July 24th actually can. We have a commitment of over 31 buses of people coming from the East Coast alone and vans coming from the Mid West. This is incredibly exciting and this will be among the largest AIDS related mobilizations EVER in history.
These buses cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. We need your help to make sure that no one is turned away.
If you plan to bring dozens of people to Washington, DC from your community (or even a handful) then the We Can End AIDS Coalition can use your help with fundraising. Local fundraising is MUCH easier than fundraising for large national events.
Join a local fundraising training on TODAY Monday, June 11th at 7pm.
This training will be conducted by yours truly, but I welcome input from other fundraisers out there.
You will learn:
* how to reach out to local businesses for support (plus you will get a template letter)
* how to reach out to local politicians to sponsor a bus
* how to reach out to local AIDS service organizations to sponsor a bus or support their clients to attend
* how to reach out to local foundations for support
This mobilization is designed to grow your local capacity to organize and mobilize (which will be incredibly necessary for you to defend against looming budget cuts and austerity budgets that are stripping away AIDS services in every community). Fundraising is a key part of that work.
