IAC Mobilization Media/Messaging Group

Minutes, Feb. 9^th, 2012

 

1.  What do we have:

            -platform

-updated website recently

            -we have postcards

            -twitter for wecanendaids (#endaids, #endofaids)

            -blog attached to website

 

Rough Outline of what is happening:

10,000-30,000 on Tuesday of IAC.  5 arms of march will then go and occupy spaces on way to meet up point between White House, Chamber of Commerce and Treasury Dept.  Includes creative actions in addition to standard marches, occupying political spaces, banks, etc.  Then large even that ties together economic justice, human rights and AIDS where everyone comes together.

 

We need to build the media buzz.

2.  branding/design/look:

            -driven by global connections

            -visually stimulating calls to action need to be strong and clear

-hosting photos and videos and blogs and twitter that can produce video content

-Megan and Housing Works team will brainstorm ideas for logo, etc.

 

3.  materials

-Outreach Events coming up:  SGAC conference in NYC on Feb. 17^th; Novartis Action on Feb. 23^rd; March 16^th Left Forum (bigggggg place to get postcards out)

-Feb. 23^rd is too short turn around for Housing Works

 

4.  Getting date/time/plan

            -Put out time ASAP:  Noon 

-short call to action, circulated via listserv, then plan real roll out of those materials

 

5.  media

            -didn’t discuss

            -write blogs? Articles?  Pumping up the community with we can end AIDS message?

 

Other:  Christine likes fist logo.  Nadine suggested going to occupyart website (she’ll send address) to see if there is something we can borrow from there.
