Deb has suggested a better location. Her church in Hayward. It is
the Mt. Eden Presbyterian Church. It is located at 26239 Adrian Ave,
Hayward, CA. She thinks we can get it for free. They have hosted
other garage sales. We also discussed having a potluck as a part of
the day. She has left her church a message.

Sound good!

Sounds good to me, I was there for her & King's wedding. I can bring some Mexican food if everyone likes. My caregiver can fix it up nice.

Good news! about another possible site. I had thought of another connected fund raiser, if we are near a kitchen as in a church - to sell hot dogs during the sale, keeping it very simple -  dogs, drinks and maybe a bag of chips.  Any comments?  Good idea?  Bad idea?
Pot Luck sounds like a winner also - we might get more members out that way.  I would be willing to take care of the hot dog sale if everyone thinks it would be an assest.  Rebecca

I'd buy a hot dog, chips and drink from you! Might be a bigger deal
than you'd like, though. Would need to purchase:

hot dogs
buns
drinks, various
relish
sauerkraut?
onions
mustard
catsup
mayo

wrapping paper or hot dog serving tray thing
utensils and containers for condiments
napkins

The problem would be estimating how much we'd need. I'd feel fine about
the physical act of purchasing the stuff, but would agonize big time
about amounts. Do you feel comfortable with that?

Thanks for the feed back, Jodi.  My big question also is amounts.  We could pick Ellie's brain.  What about the rest of you.  Rebecca

Actually, just to have a little hot dog booth on the side of the garage sale.  Too much? Everybody please give feed back. Rebecca

One thought that comes up is regarding policies around selling food.
I don't know of any specific policies off hand, but I think that may
be a concern? One way to get around it (if it is a concern) could be
by making the money received a "donation" rather than in direct
exchange for the food (similar to the quarterly meetings I believe).

Thanks for your comment, Dawn.  I have also thought of possibly needing a permit?  I will run all of these questions by Ellie if enough of you think it is a workable idea.  Rebecca

The date is reserved at my church in Hayward and that does include use of the kitchen, fellowship and  fireside rooms. We have a bazar at Church and we sell lunch and we ask for a donation like Dawn said.  I will go to the sesson (ruling elders) which King and I are and the ones I talked to advised me that we can use the Church no charge. We have handicap men and ladies restrooms and the rooms and kitchen are accessible via a ramp.
I had internet problems today so I just wanted to send a quick note.I think Rebecca's idea sounds great. We can take do lunch in the hall and we have tables and chairs that we can use outside too.all for now.Deb Let me know if you have other questions.

Good work, Debbie.  I think we are starting to roll. Hopefully, we can get everything nailed down on July 11th when we can talk together.  I am sending an E mail to Ellie to pick her brains about the hot dogs.  Also want to contact George, Deb's Dad, to ask if he will assist.  He is such a "good kitchen crew" - also Sybill if it can be arranged.  I really don't think we will sell a lot because most serious garage sale patrons are early shoppers and may want coffee and a bun - but we won't even go there.  We will gear up after the meeting if it is voted that everyone is in favor of the "dog".  Glad you got your flyer, Mike.  Rebecca

Selling hot dogs could be good. I assume then no potluck as that
would interfere with the hot dogs. We can discuss at our meeting on
July 11th. Glad we have a location. Thanks Deb for getting the
church!
