Birders,
It was a *glorious* morning at Hendrickson's Marsh WMA in Story County!
I arrived just before sunrise and stayed until around 10:00 AM, finding 47 species of birds, including 21 species of waterfowl, 5 Sandhill Cranes, 13 Trumpeter Swans, a Eurasian Tree Sparrow, and my FOY Eastern Phoebe and Red-breasted Merganser.
Tens of thousands of Snow, Ross's, Greater White-fronted, and Canada Geese flew over in wave after continuous wave.
On Saturday (3/19) I relocated the continuing Townsend's Solitaire that over-wintered at Peterson Park, just north of Ames, in the usual stand of cedars.
Happy spring, everyone!
