After last night's church meeting, I took a s l o w drive past boggy pastureland east of Le Mars, at the NE corner of C-38 and Otter Avenue. Merlin wasn't picking up on the bobolinks I was hearing, and finally I located the males with my binoculars: at least seven of them.

Then, a couple miles north of Kingsley on Polk Avenue (?C-66), one flew in front of my pickup.
