Reader's Digest article on Tiffany Kersten's ABA lower 48 states record big year and her trials in life!

There is an excellent article in the November Reader's Digest on Tiffany Kerstens ABA Big Year record for the lower 48 states of 726 birds in 2021 which is more than the all time one year record! The article written by a man (Will McCarthy) left me feeling that we as men need to step up our game in kindness that we do not give a threatening feeling to women while out birding. Will writes on the sexual assault and long after resulting fear Tiffany felt at just seeing two men in a parking lot. We don't know what anyone else has been through so all we can do is show kindness and reassurance to all birders regardless of race, gender or age!
I recently was invited to a home of a non-birding lady who was very leary of strangers and said she only responded to my request to see the rare bird at her feeders because I had an online presence that she could see I was a birder because as she said "You just don't know who you can trust". At the request of this lady I didn't post the exact location but commented on eBird that it was a general location and she requested contact prior to arriving.
As men and women sharing the same love of birding we need to extend kindness to each other wherever we meet in the search to add to our life lists regardless of what state or what part of a state we're from. Also that what can seem to be someone trying to keep others from viewing a rare bird can just be having respect for the home owners wishes.
