I know we have a broad-wing Hawk in the Sheridan Park area but I feel like this tail is too long?  I only got this one shot, can anyone tell me what this is for sure. Thanks so much!

I love leaving NE to bird in the Des Moines area. Mainly for warblers. Fall, I know of course, is hard to predict, but, in general, what might be a good time to bird the Saylorville area for warblers in Sept. I have been there a few times, but would like to get your impressions. It has never been bad, and once it was pretty amazing. Your suggestions appreciated. Tim

Hi Jill,

The long tail and blocky head on this bird make this look good for a juvenile Cooper’s Hawk. Good find!
