I checked my photos from February 26, 2018 and had forgotten how different the conditions were. First there was little if any snow, there was open water in marshes in Central Iowa and large flocks of migrating geese were moving north. What a difference the weather can make in the spring migration. There have been reports of migrating red-winged blackbirds in SE Iowa, but there has been no sign of them here in the central part of the state. Like most of you, I am really excited to see flocks of snow, white-fronted geese and ducks. It gives me hope for spring. Here’s a photo from a year ago at Anderson Lake in Hamilton County.
