華府的「一中政策」制定於 1970
年代，早已不符合美國當前的經濟與安全利益。
調整對台政策並推動美台自由貿易協定（FTA），將有助於保障美國經濟利益、降低對敵對國家的依賴、並強化美國在印太地區的戰略地位。
如今，美國與全球幾乎所有國家皆維持正常外交關係，唯獨敘利亞、北韓、伊朗、不丹及台灣例外。
有鑑於台灣是美國在第一島鏈的重要盟友、一個高度民主自由的國家，並為美國前十大貿易夥伴之一，美國應重新檢視對台政策，推動美台關係正常化。
無論從客觀現實還是國際法來看，台灣早已是主權獨立的國家，這一無可否認的現狀已確立並維持了數十年。
台灣應獲得國際承認其主權地位，並有資格與世界各國建立正式外交關係。
我們敦促您參與此次請願，呼籲您的聯邦眾議員支持 H.Con.Res.8。

URGENT PETITION! Urge Your Representative to Support H.Con.Res.8!
The “One China policy,” established in the 1970s, no longer aligns with America’s current economic and security imperatives. Modernizing U.S. policy toward Taiwan and establishing a U.S.-Taiwan Free
Trade Agreement (FTA) will protect American economic interests, reduce dependency on adversarial sources, and strengthen U.S. strategic position in the Indo-Pacific region.
Today, the U.S. maintains normal diplomatic ties with nearly every country in the world, except for Syria, North Korea, Iran, Bhutan, and Taiwan. Given that Taiwan is a key U.S. geopolitical ally in
the first island chain, a full-fledged democracy, and one of the U.S.’ top ten trading partners, it is long overdue for the U.S. to conduct another Taiwan policy review and normalize its relations with Taiwan.
Objective reality and international law affirm that Taiwan is already an independent, sovereign country — an undeniable status quo that has persisted for decades. Taiwan deserves formal recognition
and diplomatic relations with nations worldwide.
We urge you to sign the petition calling on your Representative to support House Concurrent Resolution 8 (H.Con.Res.8), which urges the U.S. government to abandon the outdated “One China policy,” normalize
diplomatic ties with Taiwan, negotiate a U.S.-Taiwan free trade agreement, and support Taiwan’s full membership in international organizations.
