I'm not exactly sure who this person is or what this service offers so
I'm slightly hesitant to forward it to the list. BUT it appears to be
a free service and who knows maybe a reporter will pick up a release
from time to time....not to mention that I don't consider it "MY" list
nor do I consider you "my members" ...so read on if you're interested.

Aldo,

I thought I would let you know of a new free small business newswire
with a section for new business podcasts that your podcast forum
members might be interested in. The Small Biz Games Newswire accepts
press releases from small and home businesses and then pings to news
directories via rss. We anticipate journalists may pick up some of
these releases from time to time as well.

Your members are more than welcome to submit press releases to the
service announcing their new podcasts, upcoming guests, etc. The
service is 100% free. Press Release can be submitted by going to
http://smallbizgames.com and scrolling to The Small Biz Games
Newswire. The latest submitted releases appear on The Small Biz Games
home page.

We also have a free radio actuality service - 15 to 20 second
soundbites that are pinged via rss as well that your members are more
than welcome to use.

I would appreciate it if you could let your members know about these
new services. Never hurts to have more exposure.

Thanks Aldo.

Be Great!

No, I just wanted to know before I start commenting.

I visited that website, here are my concerns as a web citizen. Press
releases are valuable tools and can be very valuable from a search
engine optimization perspective and because of the popularity of this
tactic I am concerned that the search engines will begin to treat them
as splogs (spam blogs). I am not saying search engines do now, I am
just concerned about how participating with one of these sites might
do more harm than good.

Whyam I concerned? Because I do not see that they are going to screen
the submissions whereas others do.

I do not know the people, but I do know one of the judges. I will
contact him and ask him what he knows about it.

In my experience prweb.com is about the only one with any size that will
actually get you recognition...they have a free and paid service as far as
I remember. Check out their Alexa rating vs the games guy. My 2 cents.

PR web is great if we want to do this with little or no cash, however, they
will reject items they don't deem to have a shred of newsworthiness.
Newsworthiness of course is a lot like obscenity, you know it when you see
it.
