To IEEE Region 8 Student Branch Chairs
To IEEE Region 8 Student Branch Counselors

(if you are not a SB Chair or SB Counselor any more, please forward this
email to the correct recipient !)
(Please inform your students and your colleagues about SPC 2011 !)

Dear friends,

Please find attached the
THIRD ANNOUNCEMENT AND INVITATION TO ORGANIZE
STUDENT PAPER CONTEST IN YOUR STUDENT BRANCH,
as well as detailed SPC rules and information.

Please note that all IEEE R8 student members were informed about SPC
2011. Additionally, SPC is visible at IEEE Region 8 Student Activities
Committee page:

http://www.r8sac.org/index.php/spc - See yourself !

Let me remind you that you already received our first and second call !
An additional call will be also sent to Section Chairs and Section
Student officers asking them to help you as much as possible.

You surely know that once each year each Student Branch (SB) may hold
and organize a local Student Paper Contest under its own responsibility.
Use a stand-alone or any existing activity in your Section and/or
Chapter to organize/co-organize your SB Student Paper Contest. You are
to decide how !

It is tight, but you still have one month and a half to organize your
home SPC and to choose your local winner.

HURRY UP, the deadline, December 15, 2010, for sending your SB winner's
paper to Region 8 Student Paper Contest is fast approaching.

IEEE Region 8 Student Paper Contest is intended for student members or
graduate student members who have not yet started their PhD, but have
most likely already encountered some research topics or done Bachelor's
or Master's thesis. Organization of the local SB SPC is not quite an
easy task, but I am sure you can do it ! Follow the steps:
* Announce your SB paper contest and send information and SPC
rules to all members of your SB.
* SB counselor and other professors in your department are surely
willing to help to prepare and organize papers reviewing
process.
* Select and send the best paper(s) (prepared strictly according
to the SPC rules) to g.pau...@ieee.org, together with the
required additional documents (but before December 15, 2010).
* The appointed international Jury will select five best papers
for oral finals.
* The oral finals of IEEE Region 8 SPC will take place as part of
IEEE EUROCON 2011, April 25-27 2011, Lisbon, Portugal.
* The essential expenses of finalists will be covered by Region
8.

If you need any help or additional information, do not hesitate to
contact your Section officers (and of course me !).
Best regards,
George Paunovic
Chair of the IEEE Region 8 Student Paper Contest Committee (Jury)
