I have some synthetic sapphire I'd like to cut up and polish with a rock tumbler. I saw that I3Detroit has a tumbler, does it have the means to cut sapphire in half?

While I would welcome meeting someone there, I already have someone who can let me in and what I need is advice.

I'm visiting from out of town and will be leaving the evening of the 17th.

Eileen,
I sent your message within our slack communication to the jewelry zone coordinator, Ann Marie. I am pasting her response below.

Hi Eileen , no we do not have any of the refined machines to cut sapphires at this time. A gem and mineral club would be more appropriate for your needs.

A lapidary saw is needed to cut a material with that hardness.  You might want to contact Opalus in Rochester.  If they don't do it they may have a contact for you.

Main Street Rocks in Clawson  might be able  to help or recommend a place.
