Kudos to Pritam !!!
I really love his album "dil bole haddipa" ... all songs are upbeat
bhangra rhythm as per movie's requirements ... One in particular is
'ishq hi hai rab aur khuda soniya"
Music lover in me loved this song ... music critic has found the
following inspirations ...
Songs starts with an inspiration from the punjabi folk song "sarke
sarke jandiye mutyare ni". what pritam did is only copy the notes of
the phrase 'sarke sarke jandiye' and repeated it twice! and there you
go ... you have the start of the song composed ... 'japiyon sa desh
mera soniya japiyon sa desh mera'
Now the major portion and the hook of the song is inspired (rather
copied) from saraiki/punjabi song "ek phul motiye da maar ke jaga
soniye". The tune of the part "tu duur jitna jaye, yeh paas utna aye"
is copied but got some minor tweaks from Pritam ... the bridge "kab
dil tera le jaye" and the hook "yahan par ishq hi hai rab aur khuda
soniya" is DITTO copied from the hook of the original "way ek phool
motiye da maar ke jaga soniye".
I could swear that I also heard the flute of the famous Titanic theme
playing in the song somewhere! So Pritam cleverly re-arranged the
musical phrases from the originals to creat his masterpiece.

(Doesnt the part from 3:08 seems like titanic theme?)
Arif Lohar's version

Comparing Arif Lohar's version to the movie's song, the corresponding
tunes of the lyrics are ...
"tu duur jitna jaye, yeh paas utna aye" - Pritam (with minor tweaks)
"jawaan sadqay galay diye hansiye X2" - Arif Lohar
"kab dil tera le jaye" - Pritam (copied)
"chuki paraan way katheyaan wasiye" - Arif Lohar
"yahan par ishq hi hai rab aur khuda soniya" - Pritam (copied)
"way ik phul, motiye da maar ke jaga soniye" - Arif Lohar
Even the word 'soniye' is used at the same spot in the lyrics!
The song "ik phul motiye da" is usually credited to saraiki folk
singer Mansoor Malangi, although others like Arif Lohar have sung it
too.
