Surface receiver VS ponctual receiver

Hi all,

If I place a ponctual receiver on a surface receiver, why is the global sound level for the ponctual receiver not the same as the one for the surface receiver (same location as ponctual receiver?

Dear Carl,

You are right. The two calculations (punctual receivers and surface receivers) does not give the same results.

The reason is that for punctual receivers, all particles crossing a sphere (the receiver) will be considered, while, for a surface receiver, only the particles crossing the plane surface are considered. According to the direction of propagation of the particles, you don't obtain the same results.

Instead of using a surface receiver, you can use an array of punctual receiver.
