4th STREET FORUM at MILWAUKEE TURNER HALL

WISCONSIN EDUCATION - TRIAGE TIME?
Wisconsin’s education budget has been cut dramatically.  Will the changes force educational triage?
If so, what essential programs must be abandoned?  And what will it all mean for Wisconsin kids?

Each forum is taped in front of a studio audience for later broadcast on Milwaukee Public Television, Channel 10.1.  The forums are free and open to the public.  Bring your lunch and a friend.  Join the discussion by asking a question of the guests.

FORUM DATE AND TIME:  September 22, NOON
WHERE:   Milwaukee Turner Hall, 2nd Floor, 1034 N. 4th Street
Main entrance across from the Bradley Center on 4th (please pardon the construction); elevator access off the parking lot on 4th and Highland.

WITH HOST ENRIQUE FIGUEROA, PhD, Director, Roberto Hernández Center, UW-Milwaukee

AND WITH GUESTS -
ANNELIESE DICKMAN, JD is the research director for Public Policy Forum, a Milwaukee-based, nonpartisan think tank.  The focus of her research and writing is on education policy, including financing and governance.  Ms. Dickman was one of the authors of a newly released report analyzing southeast Wisconsin’s public school districts.

TODD GRAY is the Waukesha superintendent of schools. He was a high school teacher before going back to college to become a certified public accountant.  Superintendent Gray’s knowledge of business and finance gave him the background to balance the budget for the Waukesha School District, without laying off teachers or increasing class size.

MEAGAN HOLMAN is a Milwaukee Public School board director.  She was elected April 2011.  Ms. Holman is a community organizer and consultant in the nonprofit sector.  She has her masters degree in public policy and is a mother of four sons who are students at Milwaukee Public Schools.

GARY WILLIAMS, EdD is the president of the Brown Deer School Board.  Dr. Williams is an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Policy and Community Studies at UW-Milwaukee and director of the Institute for Intercultural Research.
