Dear ILMPS Supporter,
It is a busy week in Milwaukee. Please come to any or all of these events and show your support for public education!

9:30am, Tuesday, May 15th, Rufus King HS (http://www.rkhs.org/) is being recognized for making the top 200 list of best high schools in the country by US News and World Report, http://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/wisconsin
Milwaukee Magazine chose to ignore all of MPS in their April "Best Schools" issue (because the magazine said that MPS was too large and too poor), but the national press has Milwaukee's back. And it turns out, Milwaukee has the best two high schools in the state. Come show your support for MPS! There are rumors that the Governor may attend, we'll see. RKHS is at 1801 W. Olive St. (btwn 17th and 19th, north of Capitol).

5:00pm, Tuesday, May 15th, UWM, Golda Meir Library, 4th Floor Conference Room, "Milwaukee Succeeds - Building a Strong Future for All Our Children."  Ellen Gilligan, President and CEO of Greater Milwaukee Foundation, and Carol Colbeck, Dean of the UWM School of Education will speak about Milwaukee Succeeds, a broad-based community partnership launched by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, that is committed to “help all children, in every school, from cradle to career.” Free and open to the public, 2311 E. Hartford Ave (btwn Downer and Maryland).

6:30pm, Thursday, May 17th, MPS Central Office, MPS Board Statutory public hearing on the budget with public testimony. This is your last chance to have your voice heard on the FY13 budget. For info on the budget go here: http://www2.milwaukee.k12.wi.us/portal/FY13/Supt_Overview_2.pdf

Thanks! Jasmine
