ONE more round of emails for Tax Transparency

Dear ILMPS Supporter:

Your letters worked! The Common Council Finance Committee agreed that property tax transparency is only fair to Milwaukee property owners. Now the resolution will go to the entire Common Council. Do you have five minutes to email or call YOUR ALDERPERSON requesting transparency on city of Milwaukee property tax bills? The Common Council is expected to take this issue up on Tuesday, and we need emails and phone calls to reach them before then. We are asking the entire Common Council to support this resolution so that the money funneled to the voucher program is separated from the MPS tax levy. 

Too many Milwaukeeans do not know that last year nearly $50 million of the MPS levy actually went to voucher schools. That's almost as much as the levy for MATC. But that levy is currently hidden within the MPS levy on your property tax bill. This is a simple request for transparency in government. Please call or email your Alderperson now and let them know that Milwaukee property owners deserve to know the truth.
