Recapping the meeting we had April 26:
We went over the basics of I Am War, and picked Phil's brain to get on
the same page. The result of this discussion is here:
http://groups.google.com/group/i-am-war/web/fundamentals . That
document is a first draft of a mission statement.
We also discussed the "next steps" that we will take. There are a few:
1. Create a pilot project, as a model for future I Am War projects,
and something we can point people to as a specific example of what we
do. Some desire was expressed to keep it relatively small.
2. Solidify our core values. Before we grow, we want to have a strong,
established set of guiding principles. Greenpeace was mentioned as an
example of a company that grew too fast and ended up becoming
something the founders never intended. The drafting of the
Fundamentals document (see above) directly applies to this step.
3. Related to Step 1, the group agreed to read a bit about the world's
ongoing conflicts (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ongoing_conflicts )
before our next meeting, where we will brainstorm project ideas.
4. We scheduled our next meeting to be Thursday, May 1 at 7 p.m., at
Russell's house. We will be brainstorming pilot-project ideas and
working toward narrowing our focus to a specific conflict for the
pilot.
