The first Friday of the month is free admission at the Phoenix Art Museum,
and its also our last chance to see this amazing exhibit on the illuminated word that closes on March 9th!
This is the first exhibit on illuminated texts the museum has ever had. If it is successful, it certainly opens the door for more exhibits on texts. Surely the Muslim tradition has much to contribute to such an exhibit!
The Saint John's Bible was commissioned to focus on the themes of inclusion. The geneology table at the beginning of the work includes Hajar! The Psalms have dhikr included in the background! There are also Arabic injils included in the exhibit.
