Duplicate Scriptures

I asked Ron why there were duplicate verses in the Bible, and he asked me which ones.  I told him that I would look up some of them.  I found quite a few in the web site (The Path of Truth), and also some reasons for the duplicates and the arguments for deleting them from the Bible. 

 

The Path of Truth said that “it is a collection of writings, gathered and collated over many centuries, not written consecutively, like a novel or history book, and not (not added by Tom) edited to remove repeated materials.  This accounts for much of the inconsistencies, repetitions, and variations (some ever so slight) contained therein.”

 

The Path of Truth also said that Bibliolaters (with excessive reverence for the Bible) believe that duplicates would make the Bible illegitimate.  The bibliolaters, for example, argued that “Every word of God proves true; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.  Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you and you be found a liar” Proverbs 30:5-6 ESV.  The Path of Truth concluded that not to add or subtract from the Scriptures mean not to pervert or contradict them, not to distort the Essence of the Scriptures.
