What happens when we add new node (RangeServer) into the cluster? How
does re-balancing the data happen?

This functionality is not in place, yet.  We recently plumbed statistics gathering through the entire system, so on a regular interval (30 seconds), the master polls the RangeServers for load statistics at both the server level as well as the table level.  The Master will use these statistics to do range balancing when new nodes are added or when nodes fail.  This functionality will be available in the 0.9.5.0 release which should be available in about three months.

For now, to increase the size of your cluster, you need to backup your tables, expand the size of your cluster, and then restore from backup.  See the section, "Backing Up and Restoring Tables", in the Hypertable Manual for instructions on how to do this:
