Alternatives to Hadoop?

Hey,

I've not liked the idea of having a NFS written in Java (HDFS), for speed reasons, and read on wikipedia
that you can use alternatives like gluster.org and Oracles OCFS2 that are written in C/CPP. Surely
this makes sense even more if Hypertable claims to reduce hardware requirements and TCO.

Hypertable on either of these two would surely make more sense. It seems to me that Hadoop would
actually restrict the true potential of Hypertable.

Can anyone confirm compatability?
