I couldn't agree more!  Baidu has their own development team and (presumably) have their own fork of Hypertable.  Hypertable will continue to exist, but I won't be actively developing it.  I may pick it up again at some point down the road.

Hi Doug, very sad news. I hope that development does continue. If I can help the development in any way let me know, I would love to contribute to the project and keep it alive. 

Out of curiosity, are you going to be working on a new database project?
