Hi Francisco

I will be glad to make the test on MacOS, just tell me what are your needs. In the lab I navigate between PC and Macs so I an compare between these two platforms.

Currently I install Canopy on my Mac and then hyperspy. The first launch of hyperspy seems to hang that means that I have the prompt [1]: but after the console doesn't seems to respond to the keyboard. I found that in fact the packages needed for hyperspy where not installed by default by Canopy I installed them and the behaviour is still the same. Here is the dump of the screen:

If you have an idea of the origin of the problem, I take it !
I have an other question: why use EPD or Canopy since they changed their license politics and now the academic license is more difficult to obtain, wouldn't be preferable to use the the standard python distribution that is free?

Regard
Eric

    Hi,
I saw that Enthough has now two python distributions : EPD and Canopy. Do
you know the difference between then and does hyperspy run with canopy? My
question is essentially for the mac platform since until now with EPD we
are restricted to the 32bits version and it seems that canopy 64bits is OK
    in the mac version.

    Regards

    Eric

    Hi Eric,

Canopy is the new version of EPD. I tested it in Windows machines last
week and it worked fine, except for an annoying bug in the WX package.
A similar bug was already present in the latests EPD release, but only
in the Windows version. I do not have a machine with MacOS 64-bits so
I cannot tell anything for sure, but most likely it will work fine. If
you test it and it does not work, please let us know so that we can
look for a solution and post it in the website.

Because of the recurring bugs in EPD for Windows (many users have been
unable to use Hyperspy in Windows since several months due to them)
the next Hyperspy release will not require the installation of any
extra package. We're currently testing the new packaging and, as it
seems to work fine, we're going to release it soon (in a matter of
days). It would be nice to do the same for MacOS, but currently none
of the developers use Mac to my knowledge, so, unless someone else
volunteers to do it, it won't happen any time soon.

    Best wishes,

    Francisco
