Hi folks,

I'm completely unable to use the ripple (rpl) files produced by Hyperspy in DigitalMicrograph. Could someone else please try exporting any file to rpl with their own data and try to open it with the ImportRPL script? I'd like to see if it's at my end.

I'm running Hyperspy 0.8.2 with IPython 3.2.1.

So, it looks like there isn't a problem with Hyperspy or DM - it`s just that my files are too big!

I've attempted cropping one of my 1.3GB files to make it a bit smaller, and at 750 MB it opens without issue.

Are there any other ways of opening my files in DM than going through the Rpl route? (FYI - the file before denoising is bigger, and opens fine - there might be a case of the RPL file temporary using silly amounts of memory, but I haven't noticed it)

In short, I'm denoising the data in Hyperspy, then doing MLLS fitting using DM, which it does very quickly. This is why I'm using the Rpl file.

Again, thoughts on the matter are appreciated!

Dear Tom,

If you like, send me one of such files and I can check what it is happening inside DM. The code was written in an old version of DM (the one I still use) and it may not support files bigger then 1Gb.

Otherwise, you can import the data into DM directly. There is such option in the DM menu. The idea of the RPL file is that it fill up all the data formatting fields automatically. To import it, you should import the raw data file and use the information in the RLP file on the dialog windows on DM.

Regards,

Luiz.
