I'm using v 1.46 on a 2007 Dell (64 bit) machine with Windows 7.

My data are surveys of richness and cover for 14 plant functional groups. Each sample unit is a log, and there are 720 logs. I'm looking for environmental optima that lead to high richness and cover of certain groups, particularly as a function of CWD properties. I have 19 variables that were measured on the woody debris, many of which are correlated with each other (aspects of debris size / decay). There's also one binary variable (presence /absence of Hypoxylon crusts).

I've been running a free search, with a cutoff of 100 data cases per predictor variable, on the abundance and richness of the 14 functional groups for the last 5 days, and arrived this morning to find it had finished.  There's a large result file, but no model list, and I'm not sure why. Unfortunately, I can't seem to generate one, and I can't seem to do anything else without one.

Is there a way to ask for a model list, based on a result file, or do I need to run this beast again?

I strongly recommend using v.2 rather than v.1 -- lots of additional features, plus better error trapping (in cases like this), while having continued support. Plus it is inexpensive.

Meanwhile, I recommend checking the end of the result file for some indication of the problem. Usually if there was no model file, an error was encountered, and there should be a report of that. Although it is better to track down any problem, there may actually a partial model file that you could use. Search for niche.spx then rename it to something else, such as possiblemodels.spx, then try to open it it as a model list in HyperNiche. You would need to find this file ... possibly in the folder with your data, possibly in the folder with the executable files, or elsewhere, depending on you set up HyperNiche.
