Hello Hypercubers,
I decided to continue with my cuboid solving marathon with the next version, the 2x2x2x5. I successfully solved this puzzle yesterday in MPUlt with 1.019 twists. You can find my .log file attached to this email.
This puzzle consists of six 2x2x5 and two 2x2x2 cells. When one of the 2x2x2 cells is in the center of the screen (in the Top position) all types of 2x2x2 algs are possible. Also, you can fully manipulate the Top cell with RKT. Therefore I haven't created macros for the middle layer 3-coloured edge pieces but I solved them with 3D algs intuitively in this view.
In this step you can face a "FLIP case" where you need an alg created in the other view.
1a) EDGE FLIP (created in the 2x2x5 view)
As for the 2nd and 4th layer 3-coloured edge pieces I also used regular 3D algs executed in RKT.
In this step, however, you can face some cases which cannot be solved easily with the normal 3D algs so I created some macros for these cases in the other view where a 2x2x5 cell is in the center.
1b) EDGE 3-CYCLE
1c) EDGE TWIRL
Finally, it is possible to solve the 4-coloured corners with RKT as well but I decided to create some more effective algs for those pieces too.
2a) CORNER 3-CYCLE
2b) CORNER TWIRL
Also, I'm happy to share that Melinda invited me to create my personal page on the Superliminal Wiki site so you can check my profile there and follow up on my hypercubing activities and solves.
Who else is using MPUlt to solve cuboids?
Happy hypercubing!
Best regards,
~Adrian
