Hello everyone,
In November, I started a 4^7 solve. Thanks to Aegyo's fork of MC7D adding keybinds, I've been able to make progress very quickly (quickly for how enormous this puzzle is at least). When I started, I worked on it for about two weeks or so, before dropping it for a while. Now, I've been working on it again, and I just finished a 2x3x4x4x4x4x4 block. I'll post another update once I expand it to a 3x3x4x4x4x4x4 block. I should be able to finish the whole thing in the next month or two. Finally, here's my total amount of pieces paired by type (as in 32 2cs count as 1):
1cs: 11/14
2cs: 50/84
3cs: 120/280
4cs: 160/560
5cs: 112/672
6cs: 32/448
7cs: 128/128 (No reduction needed)

I'm a bit late here, but wow! Impressive work. Maybe nearly a month later you've got another update for us? 🙂

It's been a while since that first email about this solve, and I'm happy to say that I'm now on the last layer of this beast of a puzzle! I'm currently orienting all the last layer pieces; I finished 2cs and 3cs, and I'm approaching the halfway point on the 4cs. This step should be done in the next 2-3 days, but I have no idea how long permuting everything will take. Regardless, I should be done in 2-3 weeks or so. I'll post another update when I'm getting close.

After 7 months, the 4^7 is finally complete! I ran into a mistake at the end and an unexpected case (a single twisted 6c), which cost me sub-100 hours, but I'm just glad to have finished this behemoth. I might try 5^7 at some point, but it certainly won't be for a while; my laptop can't handle it very well when using keybinds. The lack of differentiation in the filter system between types of the same piece also makes things harder, but that isn't as big of an issue.

Wow, congratulations Logan; what a feat!!!
How much actual solving time would you say it took?
Piece counts blow up fast in 7D, so I'm surprised that you're already considering the 5^7, but I support you if that's what you decide to do. Right now I just hope you take enough time to fully realize what you've just accomplished. Andrey would be proud.
