Hello Hypercubers,

I'm Adrian Vasvari, the 131st solver of 3^4 from Hungary.

After an absence of more than 10 years, I started to play with 3^4 again. I used Roice's method but ran into the same problem time by time when I tried to finish the last two Face Pieces on the bottom (yellow) Face. Namely, they are often swapped. (Yellow-red and yellow-brown on this screenshot).

After lots of days of thinking and trying different scenarios... yesterday I finally managed to make up a clean & short (only 13-step) algorithm to replace two face pieces with each other without messing up any other face pieces (especially the brown-red in the "keyhole" on this screenshot).

If somebody else is also struggling with this, the following algorithm will definitely make you happy :)

Back, 11, Right
Top, 11, Left
Front, 11, Left
Top, 11, Right
Back, 11, Left
Top, 11, Left (2x)
Front, 11, Right
Top, 11, Left
Front, 11, Left
Top, 11, Left (2x)
Front, 11, Right

Have a nice day!

Best regards,
Adrian

If you don't mind messing up a few more edge and corner pieces, you can also just do the Sune + TU which is 9 moves and effectively achieves the same thing for the face pieces.

RU TU RU' TU RU TU2 RU' TU or in Roice's notation:
Right, 11, Right
Top, 11 Right
Right, 11, Left
Top, 11, Right
Right, 11 Right
Top, 11, Right x2
Right, 11, Left
Top, 11, Right
