following the instructions on
http://spatial.scholarslab.org/stepbystep/create-your-own-google-mymap-import-it-into-hypercities/
I've been working in google maps with the impression that " you can
always modify your map via the Google My Maps interface. Once you save
your changes there, they will automatically appear in Hypercities."
However each time I modify the google map Hypercities still shows only
the original I imported.

The issue is importing a KML file into HC versus a Network link to the
Google Map in HC. If you import the KML file, it is saved in HC. Any
modifications you make to the original map in Google will not show up
in HC. However, if you save a network link to the map, it will
automatically show up in HC. To do this, you right click the KML
button in Google Maps. Copy the link location. You then need to
modify the "output" in the URL to say "nl" (as opposed to "kml").
Copy that whole URL and put that within HC (using the add KML
button). Save the collection as normal. Now, you can modify the map
in Google Maps and it will show up modified in HC. Hope that helps.
