Hello,

I am currently working on a project where my group would like to
include a scroll-over map that does not already exist in Hypercities.
How would we go about doing that?

Thanks,
Allison

Hi Allison,

What you would need to do is have the map georeferenced and stored on a server, and then we could add it to HyperCities. Where is the map located, and what area is it from?

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,

The map is of the Port au Prince Water Systems in 2010 by the USAID. I
have the link http://www.haitiwater.org/sites/default/files/OFDA_Haiti_water_system_map.pdf
but I'm afraid I don't know how I would go about georeferencing it and
storing it on a server.

Sorry,
Allison

Hi Allison,

Are you part of Virginia Kuhn's class at USC? If so, I would talk to them about georectifying and hosting the map. If not, you'll need some specialized software, like ESRI ArcMap (which may be available through your school), to do the georeferencing. You would also need to talk to USAID about whether or not you can import the map into HyperCities, too--this depends on who holds the copyright to the map, or whether it's in the public domain.

Thanks,
Dave
