How is Hypercat different (in terms of the services/setup/working) from something like an Ldap?

Hi, I am new to both these technologies and need to choose between one for my project based on IoT, where I'll be working with Raspberry-Pi(s) and other edge devices. For the same I need the registry service to keep track and monitor all these devices and their resources. 

Ldap and Hypercat both can offer me the solution to my problem, however, I'd like you to suggest as to what will be a better option considering my scenario and how exactly will one be better over the other.
