Really want to get this working but only get this error when trying to
get this to connect on my internal network. I have an android phone
I'm using with T-mobile service, wifi connecting to my Linksys router.
My internal IP is 192.168.1.105, I've tried different ports including
8080, 8081, 1313, 1717 and nothing seems to work.

What am I missing?

Your phone and pc may be on different subnets. Can you get the internal ip address of your phone?

I don't know how to get my internal IP. The best I could find was a
setting to enable a static IP, and there was a field for an IP address
but it was blank and allowed me to enter an IP address, as well as
Gateway, Netmask, DNS, etc.

I don't know if that is helpful.

On your phone go to settings, wireless, WiFi settings and click on your wireless network.

That looks fine, can you confirm what version of the server and client
you are on?

Can you also confirm the following for me:
1. The IP address you have entered into the app, make sure there isn't
something like a space for the first character
2. The server is actually started
3. Try temporarily disabling windows firewall and connecting
4. Is your PC plugged into your linksys router?

David,
2 additional things, some comcast modems have wifi built in. Is it
possible you are connecting to the wifi of the modem?

Newer Linksys routers have a feature called WLAN Partition, basically
this prevents devices on Wifi from communicating with devices on
ethernet. You can disable this under Wireless -> Advanced Settings in
your router configuration.

There's also a concept of zones in the newer routers, if you are using
the Guest Zone and don't have the option to "Enable Routing Between
Zones" then that is another thing that would break things. <sigh>

Basically if your router doesn't block you and you are on the same
subnet then the laws of the universe demand that this will work
properly.

I was able to get this to work, thank you for all of your support.
Turned out I had 2 firewalls but I only disabled one. Windows Firewall
was the culprit.

Thanks for reporting back David. I hope you figured out how to allow the server access through your firewall. We definitely do not recommend running with your firewall off for anything other than debugging!
