Hey guys, great app, but unfortunately my connection likes to drop
somewhat frequently on my home computer, and when it reconnects, I'm
getting an error on crd that says it connects to the server but the
client isn't open. Do I need an additional or alternate remote desktop
utility to relogin and reopen the client to the login screen? I've got
an android h2, can you recommend a possible app solution? Tia.

That message means that the swtor client isn't visible on the screen.  When you look at your pc once in this state, what do you see? What's visible on the screen? Is the game still running or has it exited?

I've been at work all day so I'm not sure, I will check what it says
when I get home... I do know that the last scrren I saw was an error
box on fail retrieve the game server list within the swtor client. I
clicked ok and after that only got a swtor client not open error on
the rdc app.

Ok, let me know once you are able to see the state of things. There may be something we can do server side.  It depends how catastrophic the event was.

When I got home, the only window open on my computer was the CRD
server window. Apparently when I clicked 'OK' to the 'Cannot retrieve
server list' error in the game client through CRD, the game client
closed completely on my home computer. Are you aware of any way to
restart the client (even via another Android app if necessary), or am
I simply stuck if the network connection drops?

As far as full blown remote desktop apps go, teamviewer is a good choice.

Thanks for all of your help and quick responses!

My final question, I suppose, is this: is there another option besides
a full blown remote desktop app? I'm not looking to perform any sort
of file management or system tasks, I just simply need to open up the
SWTOR client and log in.

As far as remote desktop type apps go, there's nothing that fits your requirements. We specifically avoid doing this login step because we don't want the responsibilities involved.

I think the best solution would be for the client not to close in the first place.  If you can reproduce the problem, say for instance by unplugging your network cable, you can report to bioware and get it fixed. Unless of course things are working by design...

I get timed out and booted to the server select screen with the same error you get multiple times a day. My client never closes though, was there a new patch that forced a client shutdown maybe? Maybe just a random unlucky error?

So, investigating a bit more, I came up with a couple more ideas.

First of all, yes, I was playing on my home computer and when your
connection drops, the client closes completely (even if it immediately
reconnects). I thought about it, and I assume that's working by
design, since otherwise it would have to somehow resend the username/
password credentials without you entering them, and I doubt any ticket
or request will change that. I think we're stuck with the client
closing after disconnect.

However, I was thinking about this: what about some sort of
periodically refreshing local script on my computer? In other words, a
script that periodically (say, once every 15 minutes) checks to verify
the client is running, and if not, executes the client: this actually
may solve our problem.

What do you think?

It would solve the problem of launching the client but not the problem of logging in.  There are plenty of tools that you could easily do this in but if you use authenticator then that's not something you can automate.
