This week I am continuing to share my tips on how to be (become) the supervisor you always wanted. If you would like to refresh your memory (or check out for the first time), Tip #1, please see the link below. As always, if you have thoughts, feelings, concerns, praise, or pushback, please leave comments!

A question that's asked of every candidate who interviews to work as a member of my career coaching team is, "what do you expect from a supervisor, and what should a supervisor expect from you?" It's a pretty straightforward question, but it's one that I see candidate after candidate struggle to answer. They usually have a good sense of what a supervisor can expect from them - you know, hard work, dedication, an exceptional "can and will do" attitude - but most have a really hard time articulating what they expect from a supervisor. Based on my not-scientifically-proven-but-still-holds-water belief, I attribute a significant portion of this struggle to the fact that most supervisees are not given the space to be active participants in the supervisory relationship. Sure, they may have liked their supervisor, and they may have even looked up to their supervisor, but they were stuck in a one-sided relationship that overwhelmingly prioritized the thoughts, feelings, and concerns of the supervisor over those of the supervisee. Now, this is not for lack of effort on the supervisor's part. I contend that most supervisors care about their employees and want them to do well. After all, their employees' performances impact how they as the supervisor are perceived (I know, it's cynical; and it's also true). But most supervisors are so busy trying to keep their heads above water that they have limited time and energy to devote to being the best possible supervisor they can be. So they find a routine that seems to work, and they stick with it until there is a bump in the road. And when faced with that bump in the road - let's say it's a difficult situation with an employee - they identify what is "wrong" with that employee and instruct them to improve their performance or consider other work. It's harsh, but it's what a lot of supervisors deem necessary. It's simple, easy, and it allows them to keep their heads down as they march toward putting out fires that never seem to stop sprouting up around them. But what if supervisors took a different, more challenging, and less convenient route? In the heat of the moment, what if more supervisors were...*gulp*...adaptable?

Going back to the question, "what do you expect from a supervisor?" - not all candidates struggle with it. Some have been part of excellent, appropriately collaborative supervisory relationships that inform their response, and others just know from prior bad experiences what they do not want, thus helping to inform what they do want. From these candidates, I almost always get a response that in some way, shape, or form centers on feedback, regardless of what experience informed it. They desire...no, they expect, a supervisor who will provide consistent, honest feedback. How they prefer that feedback to be delivered varies, but they all expect it (For tips on one way to approach providing feedback, I recommend this video from Kim Scott on Radical Candor - =4yODalLQ2lM). Being on the side of the table that I'm on, I'm overjoyed to hear that they do not just want feedback, but they expect it. It communicates that they have at least thought about feedback as a mechanism to facilitate and encourage growth. That they want to grow is important to me, and it should be important to every supervisor. But given that a relationship is not one-sided (at least it certainly shouldn't be), it raises the question: what about our desire (and NEED) to grow as supervisors? Do we have that desire just as new supervisors? How long before we feel like we have "arrived" as supervisors and no longer NEED to grow? I contend that what many candidates and supervisees want to say, but almost certainly will not unless they are in an exit interview, is that they expect a supervisor to be open to feedback as well.

The American Association of Variable Star Observers (AAVSO) is looking for a part-time accounting clerk with immediate availability. The ideal candidate will work well in a team environment, but demonstrate initiative and perseverance. The AAVSO is a small non-profit in the Fresh Pond area of Cambridge, serving a membership of amateur astronomers across the world who wish to contribute scientific observations of stars that vary in brightness. We recently celebrated our 100th year of service in Cambridge. More about our organization can be found at our web site:

Because of the small staff, the accounting clerk will need to be flexible: while the primary duty is to enter bill payments and receipts into Quickbooks and write appropriate checks, they will also be handling travel reimbursements, handling job costing for multiple grants, working with membership records for annual dues and donations, and interfacing with both a monthly external accounting review plus an annual external audit. As part of a small office environment, there may occasionally be non-accounting duties such as answering telephones, help with meeting setup, etc.

Qualifications: - Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially with Excel - thorough knowledge of modern accounting
practices - high proficiency with Quickbooks - B.A. degree and office experience preferred - superior organizational and task management skills. We provide a competitive salary and opportunities for improving your job skills. The position is part-time, 20hrs/week but the hours are flexible. Please send a cover letter and resume/C.V. to our email address: aa...@aavso.org . No recruiters or firms please.

All characters are 18 years old or older. This is the first installment of what is so far a five-part series and growing. Each section is around twenty-four pages long single spaced, so... I've written well over a hundred pages in this series. It is revisiting the virtual realm I created in Sex Dungeon. If you haven't read that story you might wish to do so before starting this one. I will be posting the next four parts once a week and, in the meantime, I mean to finish some rather stubborn pieces like Mr. Robinson and others. I hope you enjoy and please vote, comment, and most of all get caught up in the story.

"I am glad you are all getting along so well," a gentleman in a suit said addressing us. "You will be limited to eight hours of connectivity with a minimum three hour cool down. We hope you find at least six hours of sleep per twenty-four-hour period. Once a week you will have a thorough body scan to address any issues that might arise. We do not expect any but for your safety and those of future customers we want to be sure the technology doesn't have any adverse impact on your physiology or psyche. The developers wanted us to let you know that the game is still in the beta stage, there will be changes while you play, so don't become upset and we hope this doesn't affect the level of your pleasure in the game play. Any questions? No. I will call you by name and you will have your initial once over and then you will enter the game. For now, each player is limited to their own world. Eventually we hope to create a multiplayer format. First up is Mr. Anderson."

I wanted a better look at the distortion along the back wall of the alley. It screamed at me as the very odd things I should be looking for. I passed the woman and told her I would be right back. She seemed unphased by my actions. Did she know what this was? Maybe she was too out of it to even notice me at this point. I walked up to the wall and looked around for a trap, but no one jumped out to attack me, so I reached out and tried touching the wall. I say try as my hand passed through it. Was it a secret door?

I sniffed my pits and she was right I did smell. I had felt her touch when she adjusted my initial grip. I could smell my body odor. How many other senses would I experience? I had played on other full dive systems and while you felt like you were in the game you didn't feel anything. It was more of a visual and audial experience. This was way beyond what I had expected. I activated the shower and as I washed up, I activated my heads-up display or HUD. I examined my default settings and I was surprised at how limited the sensory input was. I brought up the help screen and I asked how to adjust my settings safely. The voice I had heard in the white room asked me what I wanted. I told him.

I used my lust to focus on the damn rocks. I imagined two of the smoother stones were her ass cheeks. I wanted to cup them and feel them in my hands. The rocks rose up slowly, but after a month I accidently fractured them when I squeezed too hard. That little event surprised both of us. Instead of lifting bigger things she had me focus on smaller and smaller objects. After months of exercise I was able to pluck a single grain of sand from a pile of salt. I could 'feel' the difference between the two materials.

"I know you've wanted this, Jeff, but I didn't want to do anything for real until there was someone I was sure I'd be comfortable with and who you would be OK with as well. I've found someone now who I believe will be a good fit if we all give this a chance and I want to introduce you to each other this weekend."

However, while the days were routine, the nights were different. Emma wanted to build the excitement up to the weekend and her way of doing that was to put me on a no orgasm diet. Her reasoning was that the hornier I was, the less likely I was to have second thoughts as fantasy became reality. I could see the logic in that, so I agreed, including the promise not to take things into my own hand.

Saturday, I was up early, coffee at the ready and doing a little bit of clean-up, Emma and I were good at sharing chores since we both worked. It was nearly noon when Emma appeared. She was on her way out for some shopping and a hair appointment. Her return late in the afternoon wouldn't be alone, she would be accompanied by the new partner in her bed. And, in anticipation of that, she had something for me.
