Good Afternoon,
As you may have seen, a recent grant opened on 01 December to provide funding for covering slurry stores to help reduce the risk of air pollution from ammonia emissions.
For floating covers on slurry stores and lagoons, the current payment rate being offered is £11.20 per square metre, giving farmers a huge discount on the cost of installing a cover that not only reduces ammonia emissions, but can also harvest rainfall, and utilize the biogas produced naturally for use as an energy fuel.
The lagoonQUBE does exactly this, floating on the top of your existing lagoon or open top tank, pumping off excessive water from rainfall to prevent your lagoon from filling prematurely and providing you with biogas that can be run through a CHP engine or a boiler to generate electricity and/or hot water. Each hexagonal cover measures 11.4m in diameter and they are designed to tessellate together to cover your whole lagoon, no matter what size. Available in either passive or active mode (which includes integrated heating and stirring of the slurry beneath each module to maximize biogas production), payback is often less than 5 years. There’s more information also on our website that can be found here - http://quberenewables.co.uk/lagoonqube
As an example cost of £5,600 per module, the grant would save you £1,052.80 off this price, bringing the cost of each passive lagoonQUBE to just £4,547.20.
As the grant application process closes on 31 January 2017, it’s vital that you apply as soon as possible if you’re interested. I’ve attached the documentation for the grant application for you to look through, but more information can also be found here – https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/beef-and-dairy-farmers-apply-for-a-farming-ammonia-reduction-grant
If you’ve got any questions or would like us to run you a free model to determine how many lagoonQUBEs you’d need to cover your lagoon, as well as potential cost savings and energy production, please do not hesitate to ask,
Kindest Regards,
Alice
