Hydventura is planning a night trek to Katraj - Sinhagad over a span of 2 days (May 16th – 17th) near Pune, Maharashtra. Sinhagad, Sinhgarh, or Sinhgad (The Lion's Fort), is a fortress located roughly 30 kilometres southwest of the city of Pune, India. The fort has been the site of many important battles, most notably the battle of Sinhagad in 1670. It was also strategically located at the centre of a string of other forts such as Rajgad, Purandar and Torna. Perched on an isolated cliff of the Bhuleswar range of the Sahyadri Mountains, it is situated on a hill rising 1312 metres above sea level. Given natural protection by its very steep slopes, the walls and bastions were constructed at only key places; it has two gates – the Kalyan Darwaza in the south-east and the Pune Darwaza in the north-east.[1] Katraj to Sinhagad is a very popular trek which starts from the Old Katraj tunnel, and ends at Sinhagad. The route travels through a series of mountains which one has to cross before finally getting to Sinhagad. It is definitely a trek which will test your physical fitness, stamina and endurance.   The plan goes like this   15th May: [Friday] 22:45 hrs: Train to Pune, Maharashtra.   16th May: [Saturday] 13:15 hrs: Reach Pune. Freshen up and breakfast in the train only. 14:00 hrs: Grab some lunch near/at station. Have some rest at the station only, after lunch. 17:00 hrs: Take public transport to reach the starting point for the trek, i.e. Katraj. (Folks joining from Pune, can meet us at station, or here.) 18:30 hrs: Start the trek, under the fading light of sunset. 21:00 hrs: Have packed dinner, during the trek. 22:00 hrs: Continue the trek, after the dinner.          17th May: [Sunday] 05:00 hrs: FInish the trek, reach Sinhagad. Start exploring the SinhaGad, capture the sceneries in your cameras.. J 06:00 hrs: Have some breakfast, if the food stalls are open here, else start back to Pune station and grab breakfast there. 09:00 hrs: Reach Pune station. 10:15 hrs: Board the train back to Hyderabad. 20:55 hrs: Reach Hyderabad.        Things to carry: 1. Rucksack/ backpack. 2. Sleeping bag. 3. Shoes with good grip. 4. A few plastic covers to keep items dry. 5. Slippers/ floaters for using in night. 6. Torch. 7. Water Bottle min (2 lt) 8. Toilet kit 9. Camera/Binocular- OPTIONAL 10. First – Aid kit, any specific medicines you need. 11. Traveller’s/Swiss knife ..If you have one. 12. Carry Identification card.   Note: Pl. do not expect any luxury during the Trip. This is an exploratory trek, and we expect things to go wrong. No alcohol or loud music. Also we prefer non-smokers. Strictly no plastics to be thrown. This Trip is open for Infosys and Non-Infoscions as well. Last date for nomination is 8th April, Tuesday by 4:00 PM (Strictly).  Amount should be transferred to the account number [will be sent once nominations are frozen]. The cost mentioned below included all expenses, except the emergencies. However, for folks coming from other locations (except Hyderabad), transportation cost will be additional, & will be arranged only when asked.
