Hydventura is planning a white water rafting trip to Vaitarna, cobined with the Kulang Gad trek (one of the mighty Alang-Madan-kulang trek) over a span of 2 days (March 28th – 29th) near Igatpuri, Maharashtra.   Vaitarana is a river north of the city of Mumbai, located near Kasara. It is near the border with Gujarat state. Vaitarna supplies Mumbai's drinking water. Rafting is recently started over here, for the length of 10 kms. It includes 11-12 rapids, & the water is controlled by a dam. Kulang Fort (also Alangad) is a fort in Nashik district, Maharashtra, India. It is one of the three forts, the others being Madangad and Alang, in the Kalsubai range of the Western Ghats. Alang, Madan and Kulang, the forts situated in Kalasubai range, are the most difficult forts in Nasik District. Dense forest and less population have made these treks difficult. These three forts are little neglected due to very heavy rain and difficult as well as confusing ways to go.     The plan goes like this   27th March: [Friday] 14:45 hrs: Train to Kalyan, Maharashtra. (This train will pass through Pune @ 1:00 AM, folks joining from Pune need to board the train with us, till Kalyan)   28th March: [Saturday] 03:47 hrs: Reach Kalyan. Some freshen up there, if required. 04:00 hrs: Board the local transport booked there. 06:00 hrs: Reach the base location, Shirole Village, in the booked vehicle. Freshen up here. 07:00 hrs: Breakfast time. 08:30 hrs: Start to the rafting point. 09:00 hrs: Rafting starts, after the necessary instructions are over. 12:00 hrs: Rafting ends, starts back to the base village for Lunch. 13:00 hrs: Get freshen up, and have lunch here. After that, catch up some sleep, and have rest. 17:00 hrs: Start to the Kulang Gad base, in the booked vehicle. 19:00 hrs: Reach to the base of the Kulag Gad, & start trekking up with torch lights J 23:00 hrs: Reach to the top of the mighty Kulang Gad. Have some rest. 23:15 hrs: Dinner time. 00:00 hrs: Prepare for night stay, under the stars, and catch on some sleep.           29th March: [Sunday] 06:00 hrs: Good morning. Get freshen up. 07:00 hrs: Breakfast. Start exploring the Kulang Gad, capture the sceneries in your cameras.. J 08:00 hrs: Start trekking down to the base. 11:00 hrs: Reach at the base, get in the booked vahicle. 12:00 hrs: Have lunch somewhere on the way. 13:00 hrs: Start to Kalyan, in booked vehicle. 15:00 hrs: Reach Kalyan Station, and board the train back to Hyderabad.   30th March: [Monday] 07:45 hrs: Reach Hyderabad.         Things to carry: 1. Rucksack/ backpack. 2. Sleeping bag. 3. Shoes with good grip. 4. A few plastic covers to keep items dry. 5. Slippers/ floaters for using in night. 6. Torch. 7. Water Bottle min (2 lt) 8. Toilet kit 9. Camera/Binocular- OPTIONAL 10. First – Aid kit, any specific medicines you need. 11. Traveller’s/Swiss knife ..If you have one. 12. Carry Identification card.   Note: Pl. do not expect any luxury during the Trip. This is an exploratory trek, and we expect things to go wrong. No alcohol or loud music. Also we prefer non-smokers. Strictly no plastics to be thrown. This Trip is open for Infosys and Non-Infoscions as well. Last date for nomination is 27th Friday by 4:00 PM (Strictly).  Amount should be transferred to the account number [will be sent once nominations are frozen]. The cost mentioned below included all expenses, except the emergencies. However, for folks coming from other locations (except Hyderabad), transportation cost will be additional, & will be arranged only when asked.
