The ID.4 Pro S rear-wheel-drive received an EPA-estimated range of 262 miles, while AWD Pro was rated at an EPA-estimated 251 miles of range and the AWD Pro S was rated at an EPA-estimated 245 miles of range.

The EPA-estimated fuel economy for ID.4 Pro is 116 MPGe in city driving; 98 MPGe in highway driving, and 107 MPGe in combined city/highway driving. The EPA-estimated fuel economy for the Pro S is 110 MPGe in city driving; 93 MPGe in highway driving, and 102 MPGe in combined city/highway driving.

The EPA-estimated fuel economy for AWD ID.4 Pro is 106 MPGe in city driving; 96 MPGe in highway driving, and 101 MPGe in combined city/highway driving. The EPA-estimated fuel economy for the AWD Pro S is 100 MPGe in city driving; 90 MPGe in highway driving, and 95 MPGe in combined city/highway driving.

All ID.4 models offer an 82kWh (gross) battery along with a permanent-magnet synchronous motor in the rear, offering 201 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque. The ID.4 AWD adds an asynchronous electric motor on the front axle. The front unit has a maximum output of 107 horsepower and 119 pound-feet of torque. Together, the system has a maximum output of 295 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque.

The ID.4 improves the DC fast-charging speed for model year 2022, from 125 kW to 135 kW. The 2022 ID.4 comes with three years of unlimited 30-minute charging sessions at Electrify America DC fast chargers at no additional cost, helping to inspire range confidence. Volkswagen customers will be able to manage their charging plan through the Electrify America app. For model year 2022, the ID.4 offers a Plug and Charge feature (later availability) to help simplify the charging experience at Electrify America.

Electrify America has 800 EV charging stations and about 3,500 individual ultra-fast chargers open or with construction completed in the U.S. By 2026, the company plans to more than double its infrastructure with 1,800 charging stations comprised of 10,000 individual chargers in the United States and Canada.

The ID.7 is the first MEB model with a completely new, highly efficient drive generation. With 210 kW (286 PS), it is the most powerful and highest-torque electric drive motor in a Volkswagen ID. model so far. The power unit with the internal designation APP550 was developed together with Volkswagen Group Components in Kassel (Germany) and is also produced there.

The new electric drive has been optimised above all in terms of its energy consumption. Depending on the battery sizes, it is predicted that WLTP ranges of up to 700 kilometres and charging capacities of up to about 200 kW will be possible. The ID.7 therefore underlines its long-distance suitability for frequent drivers and fleet customers.The ID.7 is almost five metres long and was designed based on aerodynamic principles. Its roof slopes elegantly to the rear in coup style and contributes to achieving an excellent drag coefficient of about 0.23 depending on the vehicle equipment. The long wheelbase and short overhangs create plenty of space in the vehicle interior for all occupants.

A new operating and display concept is introduced in the ID.7. With this, Volkswagen has reacted to feedback from its customers and improved the operating experience in relevant areas. This includes the following features as standard:

Enhanced best-in-class assistance systems
The Travel Assist with swarm data* can take over lateral and longitudinal control of the ID.7 as needed. Volkswagen developed this feature together with CARIAD, the software company of the VW Group. If desired, the ID.7 can also use Travel Assist to support assisted lane changing on the multi-lane motorway at speeds above 90 km/h. The driver monitors this, but the strain of driving is significantly reduced. When it comes to parking, the electric Volkswagen can independently perform assisted manoeuvres in different ways. One of these is parking with memory function over a distance of up to 50 metres. For this, the driver either remains sitting in the ID.7 or monitors the parking procedure from outside the vehicle using the smartphone app.

Accelerated electric offensive: ten new models by 2026. The new ID.7 is one of ten new electric models that will be launched by Volkswagen by 2026. This year alone sees the introduction of the new ID.3, the ID. Buzz with long wheelbase and the ID.7. An electric compact SUV and the production version of the ID. 2all at a price of less than 25,000 euros are planned for 2026. This will give the car manufacturer the widest range of electric vehicles compared with its competitors. When I left my driveway, the e-Golf computer had calculated 145 miles of range. By the time I got to practice an hour and 45 minutes later, the computer said I only had 60 miles of range left. The lost range was due to grinding stop-and-go traffic thanks to three accidents on the way, sporadic use of the heater and cabin defroster (turning it on incinerated 20 miles of range instantly), and I dunno, maybe running the windshield wipers nonstop.

The new MEB-based ID.7 electric sedan is designed for long road trips, with initial forecasts indicating up to roughly 435 miles (700 km) WLTP range for its Pro trim. Although the EPA range will be lower, it will still likely be in the mid to high 300 miles range.

VW achieved a higher range with its new high-efficiency drivetrain, which was developed in-house, and a low drag coefficient. The system comprises a 282-hp (210-kW) PSM permanent magnet synchronous motor, a two-stage, one-speed gearbox, and power and control electronics.

With up to 14 electrical adjustments, drivers can adjust heated or cooling seats. In addition, the seats have ten air cushions designed to provide a pneumatic pressure point massage with two large seat cushions. The ergoComfort and ergoPremium seats are designed to activate the pelvis and spine for a healthier back.

The Volkswagen ID.7 is a prime example of how far electric vehicles have come with over 400 miles (WLTP) range. That said, more range is not always necessary as it generally requires a bigger battery and, therefore, more materials.
