Dear colleagues (sorry for cross-posting),

Are you involved or interested in studying water-related processes in drylands? If so, we’re very happy to invite you to participate in the EGU 2023 new “Water in Deserts” session. The aim of the session is to bring together scientists from various disciplines and geographical regions studying arid regions, with a wide range of perspectives. Participants from Atmospheric science, Climate, Hydrology (both surface and subsurface), Geomorphology and Paleoclimatology are invited to this broad-horizon session, with the intention to connect these fields together to get a better standpoint of the topic.

Key talk during the session will be given by Prof. Mohamed Sultan (WMU, USA): Recharge from Reservoirs, Groundwater Flow, and Response to Climate Variability in Arid Basins: Revelations from GRACE Observations.

Please note that this year’s EGU will be an in person + online conference, and that the deadline to apply for Roland Schlich travel support for on-site participants is 1 December 2022. Otherwise the abstract submission deadline is 10 January 2023.

Session details:

Looking forward to seeing you,

Moshe (Koko) Armon, Andries Jan De Vries, Kathryn Fitzsimmons, Jens Lange and Yves Tramblay
