Dear Colleagues,

We invite you to submit an abstract to our 2024 AGU Fall Meeting session, “GC082. High-Resolution Regional Earth System Modeling: Hydroclimate Variability, Extremes, and Policy Implications." The abstracts can be submitted at agu.confex.com/agu/agu24/prelim.cgi/Session/228674.  Please note that the abstract submission deadline is Wednesday, 31 July, 2024.  A description of the session is given below.

Session title: GC082 High-Resolution Regional Earth System Modeling: Hydroclimate Variability, Extremes, and Policy Implications

Session description:
Addressing the grand challenge in global change studies, the development of high-resolution regional Earth system models stands as a top priority, capable of yielding policy-relevant outputs for regional climate change adaptation and mitigation decisions. Regional Earth system modeling has swiftly emerged as a burgeoning research endeavor, running parallel to efforts in high-resolution global climate and Earth system modeling. This session aims to showcase the latest advancements in high-resolution regional Earth system modeling, remote sensing of Earth observations, network measurements, statistical techniques, and theoretical foundations of the regional water cycle and environmental changes. We welcome presentations covering the latest assessments of CMIP6/7 climate models, Seasonal to Decadal Predictions, Large Ensemble, and high-resolution climate experiments. Contributions on Regional Earth System Model development, long-term observational studies, hypothesis-driven climate modeling experiments, and applications of machine learning are encouraged. Furthermore, research on innovative methods for communicating model outputs to stakeholders and decision-makers is highly encouraged.

Invited Speakers: Lulin Xue (NCAR), Sujay Kumar (NASA/GSFC)

Session conveners: Zong-Liang Yang (UT Austin), Min-Hui Lo (National Taiwan University), Vasco Manuel Mantas (University of Coimbra), Li Dan (IAP/CAS), Sanjiv Kumar (Auburn University)
