Invitation to contribute a book chapter in a Springer Nature book titled “Saltwater Intrusion into Groundwater of World Deltas: Groundwater Sustainability in River Deltas”

Dear Respected Professor:

We are pleased to invite you to contribute a book chapter to our forthcoming volume titled “Saltwater Intrusion into Groundwater of World Deltas: Groundwater Sustainability in River Deltas”, to be published by Springer Nature as part of the Deltas of the World series.

We would be grateful for your positive response and kindly ask you to select a suitable chapter topic from the enclosed list within one week.

By the end of April, we would appreciate your confirmation of participation by submitting a brief tentative abstract (approximately 250 words), along with the authors’ names, affiliations, and the contact details of the corresponding author.

Please note that there is no publication fee. Contributors will receive a PDF copy of the book and a 40% discount on Springer publications.

Should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Description of the book:

This book offers a dedicated and in-depth analysis of saltwater intrusion (SWI), the primary threat to freshwater security in coastal deltas worldwide. It meticulously examines the global drivers—both natural and anthropogenic—that accelerate this process. The volume is built around a core of detailed case studies from the world's most vulnerable deltas, including the Mekong, Nile, and Mississippi, offering tangible, real-world context to the theoretical challenges. It comprehensively covers the advanced methods and technologies essential for monitoring and modeling intrusion dynamics, from geophysical tools to satellite-based observations. Critically, this volume delves into the severe human consequences of salinity contamination, detailing its impacts on water access, public health, agriculture, and economic stability. Finally, it evaluates a robust suite of technical, managerial, and policy solutions, from engineering interventions like Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) to adaptive governance models, providing a roadmap for defense against salinization. This volume is an indispensable resource for hydrogeologists, coastal zone managers, environmental engineers, policymakers, and public health officials in deltaic regions tasked with protecting vital freshwater resources for future generations.
