Seeking Post Doctoral Scholar for Stormwater Management Research at the University of Vermont

We seek a postdoctoral researcher with interest in stormwater and urban hydrology, and how communities are adapting their stormwater management strategies (e.g., green stormwater infrastructure, design standards) to changing precipitation and temperature patterns. The postdoctoral researcher will be a key contributor to USGS-funded research project working with communities in the northeastern United States to model the effects of adopted and potential adaptation strategies on the flow and quality in urban streams, under present and future climates. The postdoctoral researcher will be the lead SWMM modeler on the project. 

 

Qualified candidates could come from multiple disciplines of study, but candidates should be able to demonstrate comfort working in interdisciplinary, collaborative research teams.  Competitive candidates will have a PhD that has given them experience with hydrologic modeling in SWMM, along with some background in working with climate model outputs and/or water quality dataThe ideal candidate will also have some exposure to and interest in community engaged research. 

 

The postdoc will be supervised by Dr. Anne Jefferson, who leads the Watershed Lab in the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Vermont (UVM)UVM is a top research university that prioritizes transdisciplinary research and collaboration as a strategy for continued strengthening of scientific inquiry and education. The anticipated start date is summer to early fall 2026, but there is flexibility for the ideal candidate. A remote position based in the US may be possible, but occasional travel is requiredInitial appointment is for 1 year with the possibility of renewal for a second year, pending satisfactory performance and continued availability of funds.
