The Department of Natural Sciences at Vermont State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Geology at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin in August of 2023. This position will be based at the Castleton campus with opportunities to teach both in-person and online lectures and coordinate Geology lab courses at the Johnson and Lyndon campuses. The individual hired for this position will teach courses in introductory geology, hydrogeology, and soils/surficial processes to support a number of programs in the natural sciences. In addition, the individual may utilize their expertise and contribute courses to secondary education in science and the University’s general education curriculum. Applicants with research experience and expertise in climate change, water resources, or surficial processes are encouraged to apply; however, candidates with expertise in other areas will receive full consideration. The successful candidate will teach, as well as advise students, supervise student research and internships, and provide service to the University and community. Opportunities for start-up funds and professional development support are available. The successful candidate will establish an independent, active research program designed to engage undergraduates. A Ph.D. in Geology, or a closely related field, is required. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is preferred.
