Hello Adeyemo and thank you for sending us a message!
Have you visiting our wiki page? It explains what our working group is working on and also how we fit into a much larger community of people and institutions working on a collaborative project called Hydra. It also contains links to our github code repository.
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/hydra/Hydra+GIS+Data+Modeling+Working+Group
Our working group is fairly small (4-5 people) and we are working to program a content model for GIS data specifically in the Hydra repository framework. The Google group is one of our channels of communication, and so we are the only members of the Google group.
There is a larger group for people in the Hydra community who are interested in geospatial data generally, and it holds a regular conference call every two months. We report back to that group on our progress.
Perhaps once you've had a chance to review information about Hydra, the interest group and our working group you'll have a better idea whether you would like to be involved in the working group or the interest group.
If you were interested in participating in the working group, there are some steps to follow first that involve registering as a Hydra contributor and signing an intellectual property release.
I realize now that our Google group lacks a description, and so I will put a link to our wiki page in it for other people who may find us.
Kind regards,
John
