As part of ICSE 2014 Pre-Workshop series, we are planning a workshop on Test Challenges & Methodologies for Cloud. With few invited speakers, and then papers from the industry. The industry papers can be considered for submission to the main ICSE event workshop in Test Challenges in Cloud. (Last day for this is 24th Jan.. after below event mentoring will be available for anyone interested in submitting the paper).

“Test challenges and methodologies with Cloud, Mobile and Big Data: Present and Future”

Jan 10 2014

Overview

With the proliferation of Cloud Computing, Mobile and Web 2.0 technologies, companies are increasingly adopting Cloud platforms (PaaS) for developing and deploying applications and/or SaaS-based applications. When such high-end Cloud-based solutions are developed, it also poses several challenges to assess and quantify the quality of the products developed. Service companies (SIs) are increasingly leveraging Cloud to develop (using PaaS) and deploy solutions. Similarly, ISVs are rapidly embracing Cloud to simplify delivering their products in SaaS model off the Cloud. In this workshop, we aim to bring out major issues to be assessed by any quality assessment team for any Cloud based platforms/applications developed. We describe the challenges introduced by Cloud for Software testing, testing the cloud vs. testing delivered as a service (TaaS) from Cloud and various current day practices for Cloud testing. We also the challenges introduced for automation frameworks with Cloud paradigms and various ways to mitigate these challenges.

Objective:

·         To create awareness on modern day software test challenges and methodologies

·         To introduce the advantages and benefits of ICSE for software engineering specifically for software test industry and research

Target Audience:

·        Principal Engineers / Architects working in cloud based solutions and products

·        Academicians with software testing / Software engineering with Cloud, Mobile and Big Data interests
