Judith Heineman, is a Chicago Moth winner, an NSN Oracle Award recipient, an Illinois Humanities Council "Road" Scholar , and Illinois Arts Council Artstour Artist and Artis-in-Education artist.   She has appeared locally and nationally in festivals, museums, schools and libraries. Judith’s award winning CDs include Grimm's Grimmest: The Darker Side Of Fairy Tales

Melissa Perrin is co-host of Do Not Submit Evanston, a storytelling open mic at the Celtic Knot. She believes the stories we tell about ourselves can define who we are, for better or for worse. Altering that story can be a powerful tool in living a full life. Melissa secretly wishes she had been born and raised in Phoenix Arizona so that she could introduce herself as a Native Phoenician. [She just likes how that sounds.]

Brendan Cournane has run marathons in all 50 States and all 7 Continents including on the Great Wall of China, around Mt. Kilmanjaro, and even in Antarctica.  Along the way he has collected stories of triumph, failure, love, losses and gains. Those stories have made him who he is today, and he relishes sharing them.

Phyllis Porché, a Chicago Moth Story Slam winner, grew up on the south side of Chicago. She is a storyteller, fiction writer, and teacher.  She believes in the power of words and encourages her students to use them wisely.   Her secrets to writing are late nights, chunky peanut butter, strong coffee, and writing by hand.

Margaret Burk - in addition to BACK ROOM STORIES, she co-produces and co-hosts the Illinois Storytelling series at Dominican University and Do Not Submit Oak Park at the Eastgate Cafe. Margaret says we need stories today because stories not only entertain us, they can open our hearts, inspire hope, spark imagination, and embolden our spirits.
