I agree with pep8 and flake.

I use a lint script on my recent projects that might be helpful. For an example of that, see https://github.com/JeNeSuisPasDave/lang-simple/blob/master/lint.sh
Obviously that would need to be tweeked to match the hyde project organization.

Specifically I use flake8 (which requires pep8-naming) and pep257. I suppose you could skip pep257, but I find it helps me keep my code documented well.

Great to see life back in this project! :-)
