I was wondering if there were any plans to clean-up/complete the docs
for Hyde soon? I realize that Hyde is under active development, but
even with the starter kit and example sites, it would be nice. As
someone who is trying to chose among the various static site
generators written in python, good documentation is definitely
something that I (and I assume others) see as a desirable feature of a
project, and it would help in discerning what features are available
and how they are used.

All of the Hyde sites on the wiki look fantastic, and I hope to
possibly be joining the ranks soon.

Cheers,
Josh

Ditto. Coming at this with a front-end designer's background, I'd like to pretend like I don't need any hand-holding, but I am kidding myself given I have lots of other time commitments. Even for simple sites, WordPress just cuts down on upfront development time so much!

That said, I am sure Lakshmi is inundated with requests like this and is doing everything he can to get the documentation off the ground, get to a 1.0 release, etc. I wish there was a way he and/or other developers could be compensated for their work.

What if Hyde became a Kickstarter project? Just thinking out loud... Hyde seems like such a cool project, I hope we can all ensure it will be cultivated and grow.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the love :)

It's more of a time+commitment thing than money. I am wrapping up my commitments slowly
but surely. Huge hyde updates to come - the first of which will be extensive docs.

That said, feel free to email this group or me personally if you are stuck. I only ask that the sources
are shared some place so that I can deduce the problem easily without a lot of back and forth.

Thanks so much,
Appreciate the interest and kind words,
Lakshmi

Hi Lakshmi,

Fantastic - I'm looking forward to all of the cool things to come. It
would be great if on the github wiki to have some sort of development
roadmap with upcoming features and approximate release dates.

Best wishes,
Josh

Hi Josh,

While I'd love to have a public roadmap with an approximate timeline, its not
fair or fun making promises that I cannot keep for sure. I tried this at a much smaller
level with milestones and you can see how they are doing :)

-----

In any case, my major goals for 1.0 are:

1. Extensive documentation with lots of examples
2. Support for at least one more tempting system (with a guide for writing more)
3. Better support for archives and paging
4. More robust change detection, dependencies for incremental compilation including these:
* Picking up meta data changes on the fly
* File deletions and additions
5. True extensions for config files (ability to patch values in a hierarchy)
6. More templates with different use cases:
- photo gallery
- portfolio
- magazine etc

Thanks
Lakshmi
