Best Practises for ISL in Cisco

Guys,

 

There is a new requirement in my project of ISL connectivity between Cisco MDS 9513 & Cisco MDS 9148 Switches. Can anybody help in providing me the best practises for ISL implimentation for Cisco Switches..

None of us have expertise in switch isl .r u just looking for isl between two switches or any other topologies

Let me give you all a brief description of the new project... We have an core switch from Cisco, which is MDS 9513 with 4*48 ports. This switch is configured with only one VSAN created which is different from the default VSAN 1. And all the server and SAN ports are part of this VSAN( VSAN 101).

 

Due to new server build's going in the environment, we are in need of more switch ports. So, rather than expanding in existing director level we are bringing a  new blade switch, this is also a Cisco switch, MDS9148 is the model. As this requirement is mainly for development servers we dont want to keep load on production switch with the development servers traffic.

This MDS 9148 is a new switch arrived to the environment. And this need to be joined to the existing VSAN on MDS 9513. So, looking for best practises and procedure on ISL connectivity to implement on these switches. Hope this give good picture of the situation... Let me know if you require any more information.
